ARTIST BIO

Michael Deller is a Contemporary Impressionist Australian painter born in Melbourne Australia in 1974.  Michael took an interest in painting while completing high school and continued to paint while studying a Business Degree at university, ultimately persuing a career in Business while continuing to paint as often as possible in his spare time.  As years have past Michael's style has developed into one that is focused more now on capturing light, motion, and energy aimed to evoke atmosphere and emotion rather than fixed representation.  Some works are created with a brush and minimal paint, while others are thickly applied with a palette knife, balancing restraint with bold, physical texture.  Colours explore the tension between saturated hues and softer pastel mixes often pushed into high contrast to create pulse and energy across the surface while working quickly and intuitively to tanslate fleeting impressions into dynamic, expressive forms that create compositions charged with energy and visual impact.  Michael draws artistic influence from the landscapes of the French and Australian Impressionists Monet, Sisley, Streeton and McCubbin and the English Romantic sunsets of Turner and Constable.  Working with oil, acrylic and mixed media, works are often created on canvas, canvas board, panel, plywood, cardboard and paper.  Many works have been entered and exhibited in art shows Australia wide and sold to private collectors.
