ARTIST NOTES: The title speaks for itself. Ahh that face! Who doesn't love koalas and their heart-capturing expression? Its beyond belief that this unique Australian icon is currently threatened with extinction. When creating the design for this textured koala portrait, I wanted it to be vibrant and joyful despite the seriousness of the message. Many of the shapes are abstracted and the colour palette is bold and modern. This painting is full of complexity and interesting details that draw the viewer into a sense of ‘being there’. It will bring a strong sense of nature’s beauty into the room and for lovers of Australian flora and fauna, a feeling of connection with our country and our beautiful cuddly koalas.

This large square painting will bring a striking focal point into any setting. The image continues around all sides. Ready to hang, signed on the front and varnished for protection, it comes with a Certificate Of Authenticity.

ARTIST BIO

Words like joyful and vibrant are used often to describe Sharon DeSailly's contemporary paintings.  Use of brilliant colours in oils and acrylics, and bold texture are recognisable elements in her style. As a full time artist living in Bayside, Melbourne, as well as being an avid traveller within Australia and abroad, she easily finds the inspiration and drive to pay tribute to beauty in our everyday life. Through her paintings, DeSailly invites the viewer into the scene to 'be there' in an almost tactile way.

DeSailly's abstract impressionist approach lends itself to any subject.  Her gallery transports the viewer from the deep perspective of a vivid seaside sunset; to highly textured trees against the intense rich hues and powerful rock formations of Kakadu and outback Australia; to beautiful fragrant flowers in riotous French cottage gardens, some captured in huge scale to highlight their amazingly detailed blooms; to a cat napping in a Tuscan farm potted lemon tree, to a flock of playful cockatoos or a magnificent, proud rooster to make you smile.

Paintings by Sharon DeSailly celebrate all living beauty.  Through her wonderful, original works of art she brings joy into the homes and lives of collectors, with her artworks hanging in homes across Australia and in several countries around the world.
