ARTIST NOTES: Waters Edge Diptych by Rosemary Legat - Acrylic paint & acrylic ink on watercolour paper. This calming, soothing duo was a intuitive experiment in the use of acrylic paint and ink, along with lots of water to create images evocative of a abstract watery scene. My inspiration came from my imagination along with the feeling and flow of applying, pouring, dripping, spraying paint and/or water along with the use of different strength glazes of Southern Ocean Blue paint as the final touch. I felt light and free when I created this duo which I believe is captured in the feeling and look of this diptych. I aimed for two light, bright and minimalistic pieces to look cohesive in their colour, design and mood when hung together. My Waters Edge Diptych would look delightful hung in any space, adding warmth, light and interest. Dimensions: Both are 42cm (W) x 59.5cm (D) My work is organic therefore the dimensions of this duo includes a rough 1 cm border around each which can be left exposed. or covered, during the art collector's framing process. As they both require framing to hang my artwork photos show how this pair could look framed and hung. Please check dimensions as in situ images are for display purposes only and may not be to scale. Both signed on the front.

ARTIST BIO

Rosemary’s artistic journey is a delightful adventure that showcases the power of creativity. From a young age, she found joy in artistic pursuits, but it wasn’t until her retirement, amid the quiet of countless covid lockdowns, that she truly reconnected with her passion for art.

With an eclectic style that celebrates whimsy, Rosemary’s paintings are a vibrant reflection of her playful spirit. Rather than sticking to a rigid plan, she lets her creativity flow, allowing each piece to reveal itself organically. As she layers colors and textures, her work takes on a life of its own, resulting in captivating pieces that invite viewers into her imaginative world.
Originally working solely with acrylics on canvas, Rosemary has since embraced an exciting variety of materials. Now, her mixed media artworks bring together paint, ink, soft pastels, oil sticks, and collage, transforming her creations into multidimensional expressions of her vision.
At the heart of Rosemary’s art is a simple yet powerful motivation: it makes her happy! The joy she feels while painting shines through in every piece she creates, and sharing that joy with others has ignited her passion even further. With numerous pieces sold and a growing audience, Rosemary is driven to continue creating and sharing her artwork, ensuring that her vibrant imagination remains a central part of her life for years to come.
