Shire Hall Beach Mornington by Bernadette Devlin

Features

ARTIST NOTES: This small oil painting captures the distinctive beauty of Shire Hall Beach in Mornington, looking across the shoreline towards the striking red cliffs that rise above the bay. Bathed in natural light, the warm earth tones of the cliffs stand in vivid contrast to the cool blues of the sky and the tranquil waters of Port Phillip Bay, creating a harmonious balance of colour and atmosphere. The painting is built with textured layers of oil paint and expressive brushwork, allowing colour and light to take precedence over fine detail. The visible marks and rich surface texture reflect my emotional response to the landscape, enriched by an awareness of its deep cultural significance.
